Green Door is a four-year Lottery funded project which aims to encourage people, particularly older and disabled people, to make more use of green spaces in the city to improve their physical and mental wellbeing.

The project will be delivering a programme of adult learning and wellbeing opportunities, starting on Tuesday, February 5.  This will include activities such as relaxation classes, confidence building, digital photography and art classes.  All courses are free of charge and open to anyone over 19.  Full information is available at www.stoke.gov.uk/greendoor

There will also be an accessible cycle hire facility based at Westport Lake, which will open in June 2013.  This will offer low-cost cycle hire, including cycles which are specifically designed to be used by people with disabilities.

Additionally, there will be a series of activities and events throughout the spring, summer and autumn months.  Keep an eye on the website or look for Green Door on Facebook.

We are now recruiting volunteers for the project.  We will need lots of volunteers and there are plenty of different roles, so there is bound to be something for everyone.  If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the Green Door team on 01782 236667, 07824 473432 or greendoor@stoke.gov.uk
